Our Commitment
Marsh is committed to support the communities in which we live and work through a range of programs and activities across Australia, New Zealand and the rest of the Pacific Region.
In addition to the assistance we provide as risk manager and insurance broker to local governments, sport, the arts and charitable organisations, enabling them to benefit the community across the Pacific, Marsh has a strong culture of digging deep and providing support in times of need.
Across the region, Marsh demonstrates our corporate social responsibility through charitable contributions, pro-bono assistance, employee volunteerism and partnerships with organisations whose programs and services help communities and people at risk.
Marsh Cares
Since 2009, Marsh Cares has been dedicated to making a sustainable and ongoing contribution to the people, local communities and environment in the Pacific.
Marsh Cares equips our volunteers as they work to build communities that are more resilient, grow as leaders and raise awareness about causes that matter.
Community Initiatives
Marsh has provided coordinated and national support for community fundraising events such as the Vinnies CEO Sleepout, Support Act, Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea, Jeans for Genes, the Clontarf Foundation, the British Red Cross, Movember, Steptember and others.
Volunteering
All Marsh colleagues are encouraged to use paid volunteer leave to engage with, and contribute to, the wellbeing of their local communities.
During 2020, there was an 11% increase in colleague volunteer rates in the Pacific Region.
Workplace giving
Our workplace giving program enables our colleagues to make pre-tax donations from their pay with associated contributions by Marsh. All colleagues are able to contribute to a selection of eligible charities.
Reconciliation Action Plan
Marsh is committed to a journey of reconciliation and we are very proud to share our Innovate Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP).
Our RAP is a blue print for our work with colleagues and contacts within our sphere of influence, which aims to build an increased awareness and recognition of the importance of reconciliation actions.
We live by the principles of diversity and inclusion, and are dedicated to making a sustainable contribution to greater inclusion of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in the communities and workplaces in areas where we operate.
Spotlight: Supporting our community to navigate the COVID-19 Pandemic Lifecycle
During the initial onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, Marsh developed the Pandemic Response Lifecycle to help give businesses of all shapes and sizes in our community guidance and added confidence in navigating the uncertainty and challenges caused by COVID-19.
Marsh established a suite of solutions, services and guides to help address the business community’s challenges through the Pandemic Lifecycle. Our COVID-19 Risk Hub delivered timely and relevant updates, thought leadership and risk insights to the community, helping thousands of businesses to manage the crisis in the Pacific region and beyond.
Spotlight: Marsh support for the 2019-20 Australian Bushfires.
The 2019-2020 Australian summer bushfires were some of the most catastrophic ever experienced in history.
With bushfire insurance claims well in excess of $1b AUD, Marsh had the unique privilege of supporting many organisations recover across our community.
Many of the volunteer firefighters and first responders to the crisis had insurance brokered by Marsh. Marsh applauds and is proud to support such heroism.
Outside of our professional expertise, Marsh colleagues volunteered their time as part of firefighting and emergency services responses – as well as hands on work in our communities.
Our long-term relationships with AFL and Cricket Australia provided Marsh with an important platform to make a greater impact.
As bushfires ravaged across Australia in the early months of 2020, the Marsh Community Series AFL preseason competition delivered 18 AFL games across regional areas in almost every State.
Marsh used our AFL sponsorship platform to make a difference, by donating assets to celebrate and acknowledge the Rural Fire Service and first responders in regional locations, and assisting fundraising activity at games to support the AFL Bushfire Community Relief Fund in its efforts to assist communities repair and rebuild fire-affected local football clubs.
Marsh collaborated with AFL to highlight the challenges faced by fire-affected communities, and donated additional support at the AFL Bushfire Relief Match - ensuring appropriate insurance coverage was in place for the additional games and participating players.
Marsh also supported Cricket Australia to respond to the Bushfires, donating to the Cricket Australia Charity Match Red Cross Bushfire Appeal, and working behind the scenes to ensure implementation of appropriate insurance cover and risk management steps.
Globally, through corporate and colleague donations, Marsh contributed hundreds of thousands of dollars in support of the Red Cross Bushfire appeal to help rebuild communities devastated by fire.
