As Chief Operating Officer for the Pacific, Gary Shlom drives the operational strategy and functions for the Marsh business across the Pacific region. He is also a member of the Marsh McLennan and Marsh Pacific Executive committees.

With more than 35 years’ experience in the insurance and risk management industry across a range of functions, Gary has a deep understanding of company operations, risk management, insurance broking, risk technologies and global leadership. He uses his extensive expertise to drive operational excellence within Marsh, creating better experiences for our clients and colleagues. His industry knowledge is well regarded, having earned a number of accolades for achieving high results for his qualifications, including several awards.

Gary joined Marsh South Africa in 1997, where he was Chief Information Officer and then Senior Vice President of the Risk Consulting and Risk Finance division. In 2006, Gary moved to Sydney, Australia, where he assumed various senior leadership roles overseeing various divisions and aspects of operations and client technologies across Marsh’s Asia and Pacific regions.

Gary is a Fellow Certified Insurance Professional of the Australian and New Zealand Institute of Insurance and Finance, Fellow of the Insurance Institute of South Africa, and Fellow of the Institute of Risk Management. He has also been an insurance institute examiner.

Gary lives and works in Sydney, Gadigal land.
