Marsh has established a multi-year partnership with five UK charities, which have been carefully selected to help us make a positive difference to the people, communities and business areas in which we work.

Business in the Community

Business in the Community (BITC), is the UK’s largest and most influential responsible business network dedicated to building a fairer and greener world together supported by His Majesty The King for over 40 years. BITC inspires, engages and challenges organisations to take practical action to mobilise their collective strength as a force for good in society.

The organisation's help will go a long way to support and guide us in growing our Social Impact programme. An example of this is our education work with them focusing on addressing social mobility in three key cities, London, Manchester and Norwich. The objective is to create a long-term mutual partnership with a school in each of the cities, which will create opportunities for colleagues to volunteer and provide vital pro bono support.

The Centre for Social Justice

At The Centre for Social Justice (CSJ), they put social justice at the heart of British politics. Advancing social justice is about identifying the root causes of poverty and providing a way out to those it affects. Our progress in life is often described as a journey up a ladder but, for some people, the very first rung of that ladder is out of reach. The CSJ exists to help those people.

Our donation sponsors the annual CSJ Awards — a high-profile annual event celebrating the efforts of small, grassroots charities in tackling poverty and social deprivation. Applications are received from across the UK and the winners decided by an independent judging panel. The ceremony takes place in a prestigious central London venue in front of an audience of senior politicians, opinion influencers, representatives from the voluntary sector, corporate and individual donors, and invited celebrities.

Marsh are pleased to have sponsored the CSJ Awards for over ten years. Winning charities must be able to demonstrate how their model is exceptional in its sustainability, replicability, and scalability, and outline the process and instruments used to measure impact through qualitative and/or quantitative data. Once awarded, the CSJ works with them to help build and grow their vital charitable work.

Career Ready

Career Ready is a social mobility charity which empowers young people who face socio-economic barriers to achieve their potential in life.

Since 2002 they have worked with employers across the UK to provide young people aged 16 to 18 with a life-changing programme of mentoring, paid internships, skills masterclasses, and workplace visits. They believe by supporting young people, before they have left education, they can make the biggest difference by helping to develop core employability skills, boost their academic attainment, and find the right career path for them.

Our partnership with Career Ready started in 2013 and since then we have helped to support over 400 young people through mentoring and paid internships across the UK. Together, we hope to continue our partnership to reach more young people who need our help the most.

Chapter One

Chapter One aims to create a world where all children have the literacy skills needed to thrive.

The charity’s online reading volunteer programme boosts children's confidence and enjoyment of reading, strengthens their belief that they're good readers and sparks their excitement about the world of books. Corporate volunteers are paired with 5- to 7-year-olds in regions of deprivation across the UK for weekly online reading lessons.

Our support over the past three years has helped 60 struggling young readers across the UK and we look forward to working with the charity in academic year 24/25 reading to a further 70 children.

SportsAid

There will always be a next generation. SportsAid is a charity that enriches the lives of talented young athletes by recognising and nurturing their abilities through and beyond sport. They are the only national charity of its kind – helping young British sportsmen and women aspiring to be the country’s next Olympic, Paralympic, Commonwealth and world champions.

Each year, the charity will support over 1,000 athletes by providing a financial award to help with training and competition costs. This is often the first recognition an athlete receives from outside of their support network to act as a motivational boost. Since 2021 our donation has helped over 30 young athletes, across a variety of sports, as they strive to be the next generation of sporting heroes.
